Dr. Geoffrey Kayanja

Geoffrey Kayanja │ Zion Medical Center, Ngoma

Geoffrey Kayanja is the proprietor of Zion Medical Center and a Clinical Officer by profession. He now owns three medical centers that employ up to 15 staff in Ngoma, Nakaseke District towards the northern region of Uganda. The residents of the area say that he is the best medical personnel in the area and provides good quality medical services.

Among all his siblings he was the only one who was privileged to attend school because his mother always told him, she was educating him so that he can support his other siblings in school – she had so much confidence in him. When Geoffrey reached Primary Seven he lost his mother to an illness but Ambassadors of Hope continued to take him on through school and take care of him. In his own words Geoffrey testifies, he was given hope even when he became an orphan to pursue his dream to be a doctor.

Having attended African Outreach Academy – one of the Ambassadors of Hope program centers, he was enrolled in the sponsorship program and he was later taken to Luwero Senior School for High School from where he was taken to Mengo School of Nursing and Midwifery where he did a certificate in Comprehensive Nursing. Ambassadors of Hope continued to support Geoffrey in his endeavors to achieve his dream and he went on to study a diploma in Diagnostics Ultrasound and Radiology/Sonography.

Geoffrey’s dream is to build a major hospital in the area and be able to practice health and perform major surgical procedures so that people’s lives are saved and better health services are brought closer to the people. He was quoted saying, “If someone hadn’t reached out through Ambassadors of Hope, I probably would not have gotten an education, and I would not have achieved let alone dreamed of big things. Big thanks to Ambassadors of Hope for helping me reach here. If given the opportunity I want to give someone hope like I was given hope."
